Já tinha visto o trampo desse muleque na rua algumas vezes, sempre me chamou atenção. Hoje fui entrar no site do Wooster Collective e achei o nome dele em um post. Coloquei uns trabalhos dele aqui para vocês darem uma olhada. O flicker do cara é o http://www.flickr.com/photos/thione/.

Mara Salvatrucha (commonly abbreviated as MS,^[2] Mara, and MS-13) is a criminal gang that originated in Los Angeles and has spread to Central America, other parts of the United States, and Canada.^[3] MS-13 is one of the most dangerous gangs in the United States. ^[4] The majority of the gang is ethnically composed of Salvadorans, Hondurans, Guatemalans, and Nicaraguans.

Their activities have caught the eye of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), who in September 2005 initiated wide-scale raids against suspected gang members, netting 660 arrests across United States.^[2] ICE efforts were at first directed towards MS-13, in its Operation Community Shield. In May 2005, ICE expanded Operation Community Shield to include all transnational organized crime groups and prison gangs. ICE’s Operation Community Shield has since arrested 7,655 street gang members.^[5] In the United States, the gang’s strongholds have historically been in the American Southwest and West Coast states. Membership in the U.S was believed to be as many as about 50,000 as of 2005.^[1] MS-13 criminal activities include drug smuggling and sales, arms trafficking, auto theft, carjacking, home invasion, assault, aggravated assault, assault on law enforcement officials, drive-by shootings, contract killing and murder.[6]

18th Street is considered the largest gang in Los Angeles, California and based, largely Hispanic street gang. It is estimated that there are between 8,000 and 20,000 members of 18th Street gang in Los Angeles County alone. There are approximately 20 separate individual autonomous gangs operating under the same label with separate barrios in the San Fernando Valley, the San Gabriel Valley, the South Bay, South Los Angeles, Downtown Los Angeles, Pico Union, Inglewood, and Cudahy according to the latest figures from the NDIC.

Vi esse filme ontem na Mostra de cinema, esse documentário é sobre uma gangue, achei o filme muito louco. Eu curto essas coisas de gangues e tribos urbanas, por isso sou meio suspeito para falar, mas se você tiver um tempo sobrando, vai e gasta neste doc, você não vai se arrepender.

Fui dar uma pesquisada e descobri isso:

Rio – O documentário La Vida Loca é o último trabalho de um jornalista engajado, na mais fiel acepção da palavra. O filme custou a vida do diretor, o fotojornalista francês Christian Poveda, que voltou sua câmera para os maras, gangues de jovens salvadorenhos. Acabou assassinado possivelmente por integrantes desses grupos. O crime, que mobilizou a organização Repórteres Sem Fronteiras e teve repercussão internacional, ocorreu em Campanera, perto do centro da capital, San Salvador.
